Karin earned her PhD in Medical Cell Biology from Uppsala University, Sweden in 2013 under the supervision of Professor Michael Welsh. In her thesis work she focused on the adaptor protein Shb and its role in hematopoiesis and T cell responses. Since joining the Dr. David Scadden’s laboratory in 2014, she has developed two projects merging her two fields of expertise, immunology & hematology. Karin’s first project aims at understanding the regeneration of the thymic microenvironment after a bone marrow transplantation. Her second project revolves around chronic inflammation and how that affects the bone marrow niche.
