Jun earned her Ph.D in Regenerative Medicine from the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Science in 2023 under the supervision of Professor Feng Liu. Her PhD studies focused on hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell (HSPC) specification and expansion. She used zebrafish, mouse and human systems to clarify the essential function of microenvironment in HSPC expansion (Xia et al., PNAS, 2021), zinc metabolism in the maintenance and survival of fetal HSPCs (He et al, Adv Sci, 2023, co-first author) and the developmental origin of HSPC heterogeneity in the aorta-gonad mesonephros (AGM) region (Xia et al., Cell Research, 2023). She also provided an updated view of HSC heterogeneity (Zhang et al, Trends in Cell Biology, 2018, co-first author).
